安産祈願から成人までをつなぐ成長祈願のしるし
東京都八王子にある子安神社は、古くから「安産・子育ての神様」として広く信仰を集めています。
その中でも特別な存在として受け継がれているのが、安産祈願のときに授かる「誕生記」です。
誕生記とは
誕生記は、赤ちゃんの誕生から成人まで、節目ごとに神様に祈願し、その証を記していく育児祈願の冊子です。
命名祈祷から始まり、初宮参り、泣き相撲、誕生祭、七五三、十三参り、そして成人祭へと続く人生の節目を、神様とともに歩んでいく証しとなります。
安産祈願から始まる誕生記
子安神社ではまず安産祈願を行い、母子ともに無事に出産できるよう祈ります。
そして赤ちゃんが誕生すると、「命名祈祷」や「初宮参り」といった儀式を通じて、誕生記に朱印を受けていきます。
安産祈願から続く一連の祈りが、一冊の誕生記の中に積み重なっていくのです。
誕生記に込められた思い
誕生記のページをめくると、そこにはお子さまの成長を願い続けたご家族の祈りが刻まれています。
赤ちゃんの名前を神様に報告した日、はじめて神社にお参りした日、元気に泣いた泣き相撲の日…。
その一つひとつの出来事が、朱印とともに残り、やがて一冊の「家族の歩み」となっていきます。
誕生記は、単なる記録ではなく「祈りを重ねてきた証」です。
ページに積み重なる祈りとともに、神様とのご縁もまた深まっていきます。

What is the “Tanjoki”? A Record of Prayers from Safe Delivery to Coming of Age
Koyasu Shrine in Hachioji, Tokyo, has long been revered as a guardian deity of safe delivery and child-rearing.
Among its unique traditions is the Tanjoki, a special booklet received during the prayer for safe delivery.
What is the Tanjoki?
The Tanjoki is a record of prayers offered for a child’s growth, from birth to adulthood.
Starting with the Naming Ceremony (Meimei Kito), it continues through the First Shrine Visit (Hatsumiyamairi), the Crying Sumo (Nakizumo), the First Birthday Celebration, the Shichi-Go-San Festival, the Coming-of-Age at 13 (Jusanmairi), and finally the Adult Celebration.
Each step is marked in the Tanjoki, making it a symbol of the child’s journey together with the deity.
Beginning with Prayers for Safe Delivery
The journey begins with the prayer for safe delivery, wishing for the safety of both mother and child.
After birth, each milestone such as the Naming Ceremony and the First Shrine Visit is recorded in the Tanjoki with a seal.
Prayers offered from safe delivery onward accumulate in this one booklet, becoming a testament to the child’s growth.
The Meaning within the Tanjoki
As each page is turned, the heartfelt prayers of the family can be felt.
The day the baby’s name was offered to the deity, the first time the child visited the shrine, the day of the Crying Sumo when the baby cried with strength—
each memory remains along with the shrine’s seal, forming a record of the family’s journey together.
The Tanjoki is more than a record.
It is a testament to prayers layered over time, deepening the bond between the family and the deity.
