赤ちゃんの名前を神様に報告する意味
子安神社の誕生記に最初に記されるのは「命名祈祷」です。
赤ちゃんにとって「名前」は人生の出発点であり、ご家族の願いと祈りが込められた大切な贈り物です。
命名祈祷とは
命名祈祷とは、生まれた赤ちゃんのお名前を神様に奉告し、その子が健やかに成長するよう祈る儀式です。
安産祈願によって無事に誕生した命を、次の節目として神様にお伝えし、これからの守護を願います。
赤ちゃんはまだ参拝できない
命名祈祷は、生後すぐの赤ちゃんを直接神社にお連れすることはありません。
お宮参りと同じように、男の子は生後31日目以降、女の子は33日目以降に参拝するのが古来からの習わしです。
そのため命名祈祷では、お父さんが代表して参拝するのが一般的です。
ご家族の思いを込めて、赤ちゃんの名前を神様にお伝えします。
名前に込められる祈り
赤ちゃんの名前には「健やかに育ってほしい」「人に恵まれてほしい」「強く優しく成長してほしい」など、親の深い願いが込められています。
命名祈祷は、その願いを神様に届ける場でもあります。
誕生記に残る最初の朱印
命名祈祷を受けると、誕生記の最初のページに朱印が記されます。
それは「安産祈願から続く祈りが新しい一歩を踏み出した証」であり、ご家族にとってかけがえのない記録となります。
命名祈祷は、誕生記のはじまりを飾る大切な祈りです。
ここから初宮参り、泣き相撲へと、祈りの歩みは続いていきます。

Naming Ceremony and the Tanjoki｜Presenting Your Baby’s Name to the Deity
The first page of the Tanjoki is marked with the Naming Ceremony (Meimei Kito).
For a newborn child, a name is the very beginning of life, filled with the hopes and prayers of the family.
What is the Naming Ceremony?
The Naming Ceremony is a ritual in which the baby’s name is presented to the deity, together with prayers for the child’s healthy growth.
It is the next milestone after the safe delivery prayer, entrusting the newborn to the protection of the deity.
Why the Baby Does Not Attend
At this stage, the newborn does not visit the shrine in person.
Just as with the First Shrine Visit (Hatsumiyamairi), there is a traditional guideline: boys are brought to the shrine after the 31st day, girls after the 33rd day.
Therefore, it is usually the father who comes to the shrine on behalf of the baby, offering the child’s name with the family’s heartfelt wishes.
The Prayer within a Name
Every name carries the parents’ deep hopes: to grow strong and kind, to live a healthy life, to be blessed with good people around them.
The Naming Ceremony is the moment when these wishes are formally entrusted to the deity.
The First Seal in the Tanjoki
When the Naming Ceremony is performed, the very first seal is placed in the Tanjoki.
It becomes a sign that the prayers begun with the safe delivery ritual have taken their next step, leaving a treasured mark for the family.
The Naming Ceremony is the beginning of the Tanjoki’s journey.
